Black women's magazine

August 2024

Dear Black women: We see you, and we LOVE what we see!

We are proud of this issue of NOTABLE.

We are foodies and big fans of Mariya Moore-Russell, MICHELIN star chef who left her prominent role as chef de cuisine to restauranteur. She talks about being an overachiever who experiences burnout from lack of support to creating her own culinary experience with Connie's Underground. This is a journey we hear about often - Black women climbing all the ladders and checking all of the boxes and given the workload that would be required of a team. Then there's this notion that we should be the bigger person, forgive those who over work us, bully us and discriminate against us.

What I love about this issue of the magazine are the stories of Black women like Nae' Clark and Necie Edwards who are choosing themselves, taking a chance, fighting back and thriving despite the trauma. Then there are the special angels like Felicia Ann Rose Enuha, Leah Goodridge, Andrew Pierre and Christin Peeples who dedicate their lives to helping others fight through workplace issues.

Workplace bullying is an epidemic and it is needless, pointless and counterproductive for everyone involved. We know there are Black women who are struggling, and we understand how difficult each day can be when you have to show up and do the work in the face of racism and toxic bullies. We hope this issue helps you to see that you are not alone, you can get through it and there is joy on the other side.

Cheers to your NOTABLE careers!
